Installing Remote Print Center (RPC) Required Components

Remote Print Center requires the following on the client computer:

        .NET framework 4.5

         WSE (Web Services Enhancements) 2.0 SP3

Note: To check if WSE 2.0 SP3 is installed on your server, go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and see if the component is listed in the programs list.

If it is not, open the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\EFI\Remote Print Center in Windows Explorer and double-click the WSE installer file: WSE02SP3.msi. Reboot after installation.        

        Microsoft Message Queuing (MSMQ) operating system component

        Port 4545 must be enabled on both the host and client computers

Note: Please note that port 4545 is only used locally. Please note that port 4545 is used locally for outbound messages. Port 4545 is required only when the distributed service is running on your site server (the distributed service uses port 4545 to listen for any inbound calls to the local server). All communication between your site and Remote Print Center is via ports 80/443.All communication between your site and Remote Print Center is via ports 80/443.

Note: To verify the port is open, at the command prompt, enter netstat -ano. This will display a list of all ports in numerical order. Scroll down and ensure that port 4545 is open.  

How to install the .NET framework

Note: The procedure below aims to provide general guidance on installing the .NET framework. There will be minor variations depending upon which version of Windows you are using. For the specific steps for the version of Windows operating system running on the client computer you are configuring for Remote Print Center, consult your Microsoft Windows documentation or visit support.microsoft.com and search for ".NET framework." 1.        Download the .NET framework from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=22.

2.        Install the .NET framework following the steps presented in the install wizard.

How to install the Microsoft Message Queuing (MSMQ) component

Note: For the specific steps to install Microsoft Message Queuing (MSMQ) for the version of Windows operating system running on the client computer you are configuring for Remote Print Center, consult your Microsoft Windows documentation or visit support.microsoft.com.

How to manually open/enable Port 4545 in Windows Firewall

Windows Firewall may block port 4545 by default. Remote Print Center communicates using Port 4545 through the firewall. Use the procedure below to open the port manually.

For the specific steps for the version of Windows operating system running on the client computer you are configuring for Remote Print Center, consult your Microsoft Windows documentation or visit support.microsoft.com.

1         Open Windows Firewall by clicking Start > Control Panel > Security or Network and Internet Connections (depending on the operating systems you are using).

2         Open Windows Firewall. (Note that in some versions of the Windows operating system you will have to click Allow a program through Windows Firewall.)

3         Click the Exceptions tab.

4         Click Add Port.

5         In the Add a Port dialog, in the Name field, type Port 4545.

6         In the Port number field, type 4545.

7         In the Protocol field select TCP.

8         Click OK.
